Need a tissue for my issue-

Currently my gpo1 and 2 are setup for the fan control and aux fuel pump respectively. Not my decision on that one cuz I wasn't the one that installed the tec3r unit.

Because I didn't install it I'm not too familiar with all the wiring setup. My question is: Do the connectors in the back of the unit come pinned and ready to wire? "like ready to go pigtails" ??? Or do I have to add pins to the end of a wire set and insert them into the connector at the appropriate location for gpo 1 or 2?

I'm thinking I'm going to have to pull the pins out of the connector that go to the gpo1 output and plug those into my gpo3 or 4 output (use gpo3/4 for fan control). And then run some new line to the controller and make my wires and terminate them with pins that will fit the connector and plug those into gpo1 or 2. My "electrical vocabulary is very limited"... so when I say "pin" I mean the male fitting that goes at the end of the wire that is then located inside the connector that plug into the unit when the connector is plugged into the unit.

If you got the harness from Electromotive, it should be "ready to go pigtails". I think I have heard of others supplying connectors that were not fully populated (which I don't understand, but whatever).

rdeaner,
Like TimZ said, the standard harness on the TECr3 harness connecctor side come pre-assembled and the other ends come either pre-wired with connectors if it is custom harness, or with unterminated end for user connection/soldering. First thing is to download the TEC3r manual off the EMI site so you have all the pin-outs and wire colors so you can trace them back. To make the changes for the GPO, figure out which ones you want to use for what, and you can cut the GPO wires on the OEM harness side (not on the TEC3r side) and reconnect them to whatever you need to use it for.

Not sure why you want to move the GPO's,, but assuming this is on a SRT-4, and if Nemo did the install, he either used a plug-n-play harness between the PCM and OEM harness, or direct connection to the PCM wire harness for Fuel Pump and Fan Control. He normally uses GPO2 for fuel control and GPO3 for Fan control. On my setup, I use GPO1 to one of the stock solenoids for boost control and GPO3 for Fan control. Instead of using a GPO fo Fuel pump control, I used the TEC3r Fuel pump control on pin 20 from the TEC3r gray connector, and it works fine. This leaves GPO 2 and GPO 4 available for other uses.

Hope this helps.

My fan control is on GPO1 and Fuel on GPO2 so I have no pulse width control availability since all I have left is GPO3/4. Nemo didn't install this but the previous owner purchased this from him. So maybe it came already setup. Is there an easy way or trick to do a boost/gear. 1 & 2nd are almost worthless cuz I spin throughout both gears.

I know what you mean - since the 50 Trim, 1st and 2nd don't exist anymore at WOT - they are an eye blink and 3rd breaks lose at the beginning also.

You could free up GPO2 by using the TEC2r Fuel Control pin in my previousd post and use it for boost control with a 16x16 map. Boost/gear is tough because you need an indicater which gear you're in for the TEC3r, using maybe switches or reed relays, then you need to correlate this to a RPM range and build a GPO map (Kpa) to represent it. Ideally, you probably want no boost in 1st and 2nd (using WGA spring) and then kick it up for 3, 4 & 5. On my SRT-4 setup, I have a map that increases boost value based upon RPM/Kpa, which controls PWM to solenoid to increase/decrease duty cycle.

Was able to swap my gpo's over to 3 & 4.. Looking to setup my ebc to have boost/gear.
