Can someone please put in Lehman's terms why one is better then the other.

I have a 86 Porsche 944 turbo that I am considering making the switch to a stand alone EMS. Electromotive seems to be a very good system and I am leaning in this direction.

Anyhow, I would like to know what are the real differences between the two systems. My plan for the car is stock internals with 15-18 psi of boost with WG being controlled by the EMS. In the long term I would like the capability to run E85.

Would one system be better then the other?

Any help from the users here would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Here are the main differences

1. Price Tec GT is about $550 cheaper

2. Tec GT uses the Wintec 4 software instead of the Wintec 3. Wintec is a much cleaner/easier to manage software, and has a few features the Wintec 3 does. (launch control, shift cut, a few others )

3. # of drivers. The Tec3R can do up to 8 cly in sequential and up to a 12 cyl in phased staged. Where the GT can do up to a 6 cyl in sequential and 8 cyl in phased staged.

So in general unless you have a 8 cylinder and want to run sequential or a 12 cylinder it doesn't really make sense to get the 3R cause you will be spending more money and not really getting anything more for your setup.

So in your case the Tec GT would definatly be the way to go.

Thanks for the info Erik.

So am I correct in understanding that the TECGT will not have the launch control or shift cut?

Erik's post seems to have a few typos.

Main issues:

Should say:
2. TECgt uses the WinTEC4 software instead of WinTEC3. WinTEC4 is a much cleaner/easier to manage software, and has a few features that WinTEC3 doesn't (shift cut, a few others, mainly GPIO functions)

This is right, but to clarify:
The TEC3r has 6 coil channels and 8 injector channels
The TECgt and 4 coils channls and 6 injector channels

Even if feature list (in 2) was the same, you still wouldn't have a reason to go to the 3r over the gt because of 3. So it comes down to 1, price. The only time a TEC3r would be better for a four cylinder engine is if you needed to run more than 12 injectors (It has happened).

Hello Jon,

I'm running a 2 rotor 13b Rotary. I am running 4 injectors (2 primaries and 2 secondaries which are staged in) With that in mind, whats the max number of injectors that I can run on my car with the TECGT?

Thanks,

Anthony

You can run up to 12 injectors on a 2 rotor with a TECgt (4 primary, 8 staged).

So the GT does support launch control with the Wintec4 software - where in the manual(s) does it give info on this? When Wintec4 is released for the TEC3r, will it also support launch control (with firmware update of course)?
