I have my TEC2 mounted over my heat wrapped manifolds. The TEC has a polished stainless heat shield mounted under it to help protect the TEC from heat as you can see here.

Is this really a concern for the TEC2? I know it was designed to be mounted in the engine bay, but I have heard bad things about heat. Is this true? I am just taking advice from a mentor of mine.

i would say, to be on the safe side, yes heat and electronics is always going to be a concern, especially with the money you have invested (im sure you already know this), now from an experienced point of view, i have 2 saturns running tec2's underhood, (1 turbo'd), cramped engine bays, with the turbo car running hot enough underhood that the insulation on the hood has been depleted next to the turbo, and i havn't missed a beat, i also have the stock air dams inplace that pull cold air into the engine bay, so im sure that helps tremendously with underhood temps, along with a wrapped downpipe and wastegate discharge

i've actually been questioning the life span on the tec if constantly exposed to high temps, although im not aware of anyone that has had one fail because of this

maybe one of our resident electromotive peeps can chime in
