On a TEC3 other than a fault code what happens to the injectors if the ecu loses cam sync signal when running in full sequential mode? Does it switch to phased as a limp home measure?

Mine just runs weird on startup... Symptoms: misfire as if it were really lean but afr's read very little change. I'll have to restart the car about 2-5times to get it to run normally... Mine hasn't worked ever since I got the car. And now that I'm getting the tune real close ("not 12-afr in vac") it wants to be weird. _________________ The non-import "import"

The car just may start out of phase. Thus why it acts weird when it starts some of the time. Sometimes you can get away with without. It depends on where your injectors are positioned, how the intake flows at idle and many other things. YMMV.
I know of several dealers that never use a cam sync and don't have any troubles. _________________ Jon
