I have been quite successful tuning my Tec II system on my street /strip car just using data logs, street tuning and track tuning.
The car has nice tractable smooth acceleration, good starting and idle, great wide open throttle power. I am very happy with the overall results, BUT I just cannot get the aux rev limiter to work with me as a usefull launch control.
About the car...........84 Chrysler Laser XE, 2.2 turbo, ITB intake, Auto trans. FWD. (runs mid tens @ 132+) problem is getting the aux. rev control to be smooth and not hunt rpm up and down. I need to be able to stage, lock the brakes with the line locks, Mat the throttle and let the boost build to about 12 psi@ 3600 rpm against the brakes and stay there untill I release the line lock button(convertor will stall to 5600 rpm max)
If I set the aux rpm limit to 3600,ign. retard mode, it builds boost and does not control rpm very well at all, and makes very little differance what hysteresis setting I use.
If I choose "coil cut" mode it revs to set rpm limit but is far too abrupt and hunts up and down in rpm, bumping me through the beams causing red lite no matter how I set the hystereis.
Also I should say I use a manual boost controller. And I ground the mat. pin when the line locks are activated.
What am I doing wrong? Is this system capable of doing what I want? Thanks, Warren _________________ 84 Chrysler Laser XE

The wierd thing is... when i set the primary rev limiter to the rpm i want to launch from.. it works perfectly... its all about the aux rev limiter... _________________ 1992 Nissan Skyline R32GTR

The linked thread never was concluded. Was the mat problem ever corrected? When you activate the aux limiter, do you get a "check engine" light? A "check engine" light indicates a fault(grounded mat)You want to see this when in aux mode.
I have another suggestion, if you are seeing a "check engine" indicator, you could move your trigger wheel, or pickup, to get more retard when in launch mode. My old engine would overcome the aux rev limiter when it had the tec2, but not with the tec3. The tec3, if I recall correctly, goes to -12degrees instead of zero advance. You would need to modify your entire advance table to compensate, but it may be worth the effort.
